Swimming Pool Pumps & Heaters - Clarity Pool Service of Southern Nevada

by Clarity Pool Service, Las Vegas, Nevada

Clarity Pool Service is a pool builder in Las Vegas, Nevada. With decades of experience building and maintaining swimming pools in Southern Nevada, Clarity Pool Service knows how to get the most from your swimming pool. Now that swimming season is here again, we have a few swimming pool tips and tricks to help you enjoy your pool all season long.

Tennis Balls – Float a tennis ball in your swimming pool to soak up oils and lotions from the surface of your pool water. Oils and lotions leave a sheen/film on the water surface that clings to skin, hair, and swimwear. Keeping a tennis ball floating in your swimming pool will help absorb the oils and sheen from the water surface and prevent it from coating everything that comes out of the pool water.

Baking Soda – Pool supply stores sell products with sodium bicarbonate to increase the alkalinity of pool water, but did you know that sodium bicarbonate is an ingredient in household baking soda? If you find it surprising that baking soda is a substitute for increasing the alkalinity in pool water, you may also be surprised to find out that some pool supply stores sell baking soda cheaper than at a grocery store. It’s worth checking out your local pool store to compare prices. Note, baking soda will cloud pool water when used in excess, so it is best to only make minor alkalinity increases with it.

Bucket – At the start of a day, fill a bucket with water and place it on the steps or slope leading into the pool so that a portion of the bucket is outside of the water. Mark the side of the bucket at the water line. At the end of the day, check and mark the bucket again at the water line. Measure the distance between the two lines to determine how much water was evaporated or lost during the day. Typically, pool water will evaporate about 1/4 ” in a day. In Las Vegas/Southern Nevada, low humidity, bright sun, high temperatures, and the wind blowing across the water surface accelerates water evaporation so that the number could be slightly higher. If you notice a drop over 1″ in a day, repeat the measuring process several more days to verify if the pool is consistently losing that much water. Consistent drops in water level that are over the average can be an indication of a water leak in the pool or filtration/pump system.

**Note – If you have an automatic water leveler for your pool, turn the water off on your test day to ensure accurate measurement.

Solar Pool Cover – Using a solar pool cover(looks like bubble-wrap) on your pool serves three primary functions. The first function is to get and keep your pool temperature warm and comfortable without needing to run a pool water heater. The second function of a pool cover is to keep debris out of your pool which reduces the need to clean and chemically treat your pool water. The third, and in Southern Nevada most importantly, a pool cover will significantly reduce water evaporation. Wind motion over water surfaces accelerates evaporation. Keep a pool cover on when the swimming pool is not in use will not only make your pool water warm and comfortable but will also keep it cleaner and reduce water loss due to evaporation. In a dry area like Southern Nevada, water will evaporate much faster than other parts of the country.

Clarity Pool Service Cleaning & Maintenance Services of Southern Nevada

Clarity Pool Service, Las Vegas, Nevada

Now that temperatures are starting to climb over 90 degrees in Las Vegas, it is a great time to get your swimming pool ready for summer. Thankfully, Southern Nevada has a milder winter season than much of the country. That means many swimming pools are not ‘closed’ the same way as the ones in colder climates and so it takes less work to re-open our swimming pools. Even so, there are essential steps to take when opening your swimming pool for the season. Not performing the proper maintenance at the beginning of the swimming season can be costly, so let us now talk about some of the things needed for proper pool operation.

Water Levels

Check the water level and fill the swimming pool to its average operating level. Before getting started on pool maintenance, always check the water level to ensure that it is filled up to its average operating level. When pool water levels fall near or below the filter intake, water intake may not keep up with the filter system causing air pockets in the filtration system. Air pockets will reduce the effectiveness of the water and filtration system, and dry pumping can cause pumps to overheat, especially when outside temperatures rise above 100 degrees.

Cleaning Debris

Clean up the debris both outside and inside the swimming pool. Winter in Southern Nevada is milder than much of the country; however, winter winds and weather will cause a buildup of dust and debris in and around your swimming pool. Keeping your pool area swept and clean will reduce the need for cleaning every time the winds pick up and reduce the chemicals needed to keep the water balanced and fresh. Having a clean pool area and swimming pool will also help during the inspection process.

Inspect for Damage

Inspect your pool for any leaks or damage. Now that your water level is correct and the debris cleaned up, it’s time to inspect the various parts of your swimming pool and filtration system for wear and tear. Check the swimming pool and deck for signs of cracking, chipping, or broken pieces. Inspect the visible plumbing for signs of leaks, cracks, or breaks. Remove, clean, and check each filter to make sure they are in good shape for the swimming season. Getting your pool ready includes checking the water manifold inside the filter tank where the filters sit/attach and make sure that there are no cracks or breaks. Cracks or broken areas in the water manifold will allow dirty water to bypass the filters and suck contaminated water back into your swimming pool.

Review Pool Water Chemistry

After filling the water lever, cleaning the debris, and checking the pool and filtration system for problems, it is time to review the pool water chemistry with a pool water test kit. Alternatively, you can bring a sample of your pool water to most pool stores and have it checked on site. Most pool stores will make recommendations based on how water tests.

This list details proper water chemistry levels for optimal swimming pool functionality and swimmers comfort:

pH: 7.4 – 7.6
Chlorine: 1.0 – 3.0 ppm
Total Alkalinity: 80 – 140 ppm
Calcium Hardness: 200 – 400
Cyanuric Acid: 25 – 50 ppm
Total Dissolved Solids: 500 – 5000 ppm

Get Your Pool Ready For Summer

There are products which will help keep your pool water chemistry in the balance depending on how your pool water tests. One essential item on that list is the Total Dissolved Solids number. Water molecules absorb contaminants over time, which require more and more chemicals to stay clean and balanced. When the Dissolved Solids measure over 5000 parts per million, Chlorine and other chemicals are not as effective at keeping the water balance safe and comfortable. Over time, dissolved solids will render Chlorine and other chemicals useless, and it will be a struggle to keep algae away and pool water clear.

Traditionally, the only way to bring the Total Dissolved Solids number down to a reasonable level was to drain 3/4 of the water from the swimming pool and then refill. Clarity Pool Service in Las Vegas offers PuriPool reverse-osmosis pool water filtration service, which filters existing pool water to remove dissolved solids and hard water minerals commonly found in Southern Nevada water. PuriPool water treatment not only saves the time and cost of draining and refilling your swimming pool but also keeps maintenance costs down due to fewer minerals and contaminants in the pool water. Cleaner pool water means fewer chemicals and cleaning to stay balanced and safe.

Swimming Pool Bead Blasting – Clarity Pool Service of Las Vegas

Bead Blasting Services Restore the Beauty of You Pool - Clarity Pool Service

Not just another pool company in Las Vegas

Our Bead Blasting Service can remove any unsightly calcium and mineral deposit build-ups that form on your pool surfaces. For optimal results, we combine our Clarity Pool Service Bead Blasting with our PuriPool™ water filtration process. Our PuriPool™ eco-friendly reverse osmosis water treatment will help to reduce any further scale build-up from forming around your swimming pool tile. Clarity Pool Service PuriPool™ water treatment helps to remove calcium and hard-water build-up in your swimming pool to prevent further scale buildup long after the initial bead blasting service has completed.

Our Process

The Clarity Pool Service “Bead Blasting Process” uses compressed air to spray micro-size glass beads at a high velocity. The spray removes calcium scale, hard water deposits, and any other minerals that collect and build-up around your swimming pool water line. The proprietary glass bead is not as hard as a grain of sand (used in traditional abrasive blasting), and therefore less damaging to the surface of your swimming pool during the bead blasting process. The glass beads are collected from the bottom of the pool with a vacuum and dried out for later reuse. The bead blast cleaning guarantees a certain level of cleanliness and restoration to your swimming pool. Calcium scale and hard water deposit build-up are by far one the most common problems in the local Las Vegas area.

Our Most Effective Solution

As our most effective solution to hard mineral build-up, Clarity Pool Service combines our Tile Cleaning with our PuriPool™ reverse-osmosis water filtration service.

Once the tile cleaning is performed, we vacuum the glass beads from the bottom of the pool. Clarity Pool Service then utilizes our mobile reverse-osmosis water treatment process to remove hard minerals and other solids from your pool water. When the process is complete, your pool will need fewer chemicals to stay clean and balanced. It will take much longer before hard mineral build-up returns to your pool surfaces.

How It Works:

  • Clean debris from the pool
  • Clean out the pool filters
  • Bead Blast tile cleaning service on tiles and affected surfaces
  • Vacuum the glass beads for re-use
  • PuriPool™ mobile water filtration to remove minerals and waste solids

The Bottom Line

Clarity Pool Service in Las Vegas, Nevada knows how to keep your pool clean. We can reduce the minerals that build-up along your pool tiles and surfaces. Call us today to schedule your Bead Blasting Tile Cleaning and PuriPool™ water filtration. You will be glad that you did!
