We all love our swimming pools, hosting a good time and watching everyone splash around in the pool is one of life’s greatest gifts. However, I realized its pretty rare that I spend time in the pool, which is such a shame as there are many known benefits to swimming! So let’s put our beautiful swimming pools to improve our cardiovascular health!

Men and Women of all ages can benefit from swimming pool exercise, its inexpensive and everyone can swim at their own pace. People between the ages of 18 and 65 years old should get at least 150 minutes of cardiovascular activity each and every week. So why not cool of from the Las Vegas heat and jump in the pool a few times a week?

Taking a dip isn’t just a fun way to enjoy your investment, it can also improve your overall health! Swimming in your swimming pool engages nearly every major muscle group, requiring an individual to exercise their arms, legs, torso, and stomach! Not to mention nothing quite beats that feeling of weightlessness. Swimming is also very low impact, so if that last run you did has your knee feeling a little stained, get your cardio in the pool!

Cardio involves the heart, lungs, and circulatory system. A good cardio session should feel like a pump for all of the above. This can be easily achieved with swimming sprints, what is swimming sprints? Exactly what they sound like, swim at full speed for as long as you can. To continue your cardiovascular conditioning, make note of the amount of time you sprint and aim to increase that over time. It all starts during the Design Phase

Most homeowners get a bit of tunnel vision on the shape, color, and amenities of their new custom swimming pool. There are quite a few considerations that ideally would begin during the blueprint and design phase of the process. So let’s stay excited and learn more about the safety considerations were facing moving forward.

Step Tile Visibility

Variation in pool depth is a lot of fun and great for creating a seating area in your swimming pool. However, its imperative to include visual markers for each step as the water distortion can easily hide and the actual depth. If you really want to elevate the appearance of your steps you can create visual markers using tiles!

A clear line of sight

We love our kids and it is important we keep them in mind when building a swimming pool. We want to keep the pool visible from your seating area and outdoor cooking space if you have one. Be mindful of where you place large planters, and landscaping features in relation to pathways and decks were people will be walking.

Swimming pools and watering holes have been a part of our history dating all the back to 2600 BC. The first society to create more elaborate Swimming Pools was the ancient Mohenjodaro in Pakistan. They created the Great Baths of Mohenjodaro that featured terraced decks that nearly match our modern variations that exist today.

Our journey through pool history takes us to our next great water Swimming Pool innovators that can be found in ancient Rome and Greece. Swimming was a big part of their culture, being taught as soon as boys were old enough to attend elementary school. This passion for swimming pools led to incredible innovations, including the first heated swimming pool created by Gaius Maecenas in Rome.

Swimming pools certainly improved as humanity grew and expanded, however, the did not become popular until the 19th century. The Olympic Games swimming races were among the athletic events that helped increase the popularity of swimming pools.

America did not have a single swimming pool until 1868 when the Cabot Street bath in Boston was built. It was built to serve a neighborhood that was built with very few baths. This swimming pool helped spark America’s interest in swimming pools and would become the ember that lit the flames of innovation.

As we enter the 20th century modern technology helped create incredible developments that would rocket swimming pools to a new level. Developments that include filtration and chlorination systems that would ensure pool water kept clean and hygienic. Before these Swimming Pool innovations, the only way to clean pool water was to completely drain and refill the entire pool.

Summer is almost over, and here at Clarity Pool Services, we want to ensure we are doing the best when it comes to maintaining your pool throughout the seasons. Although, sometimes there may be signals that your pool may need a complete pool renovation during your hibernation until next summer. We understand it’s easy to fall back into the comfort of our homes when summer is over and forget about our pools until it gets warm again but it’s important to understand that consistency is key to being attentive to what your pool might need, or may be able to become before you take your first dip again. 

Reassuring your pool is safe to use is the top of the list when considering a pool renovation. The last thing you want to worry about is that cracked or chipped piece of concrete that is falling apart along the edge of your pool. This can be considered a safety hazard if not taken care of immediately. We want you to have fun at your summer party, and not worry if someone is going to get hurt because of pool tiles or plasters coming apart. Taking a good look at your pool, and considering every inch of it before use should become habitual. If you find yourself having to worry about this issue constantly, it’s probably time to consider a pool renovation.

Another important aspect to your pool being optimal for use is paying attention to its filter system and energy-efficient pump. This is also important to take into account as you want to ensure any bacteria or environmental aggressors are taken care of before anyone takes a swim. This is to prevent anyone from getting sick, or having any type of reaction(s) due to being exposed to these. This is a modern-day feature that needs upkeep if you and everyone else you want to invite wants to fully enjoy the use of your pool.

Extending on the topic of modern-day safety is noticing the construction of your pool. Does it have an extended shallow end or an enclosed fence? If not, renovating your pool to fit this is a good idea if you want others to feel safe along any part of your pool. Having an extended shallow end keeps it easier for any level of swimmers to have fun, and having a fence around your pool provides safety for any animals or infants who may be at risk without it.
